My game 3:
I played Russell's orks and kept my whole army in reserves and then got some really bad reserve rolls. Almost nothing happened in the first three turns except that I had an ironclad slowly killing a 20 person shoota squad. In the fourth I finally got some stuff in the board and wiped out most of his army in 1 turn. Unfortunately I didn't know that death or glory hit the front armor and didn't get that explained when I asked for an explanation, and didn't take the time to look it up because Colby had been breathing down our necks and constantly bitching and moaning about us hurrying for his match for about an hour. That resulted in me instantly losing 9 terminators with storm shields and thunder hammers, instead of just taking 1-6 normal hits on each squad. That prevented me from blowing up his battlewagon and freeing my objective for me. In addition all my twin-linked multi-meltas on it within 12 inches failed to hurt it, and then I rolled a 1 to see if the game went past 5 turns so I could finish it off as the back end of it was just within "3. I still could have cleared his objective off and won anyway but I did poorly with shooting on a 5-man tankbusta squad even with a twin-linked flamer, and then they charged and proceeded to pass 4 or 5 LD6 tests in the following assault phases, preventing me from getting to the other objective or saving my speeders from the lootas (who also would have cleared Russel's objective of grots very easily, and almost did with just 1 heavy flamer). Same thing with the shoota boyz vs my dread passing ld test after ld test for several turns, preventing that dreadnaught from marching over and killing all the lootas and the mek, which again would have won me the game by giving me at least 1 extra heavy flamer (we fired 2 hfs and removed models, eliminating the grot on the obectives to the last man, before remembering that one had been destroyed).
So basically 5 different things went catastrophically and very unexpectedly wrong for me, and if any one of them hadn't happened I would've pulled out a win. Very tough draw to swallow but at least Russell and I had fun as the game involved massive bloodshed on both sides.
My game 4:
Played dawn of war versus Fed's orks and killed his nobz and hq in the first turn, and after that I marched towards him and he never got near my objective. I probably would've boarded him if we'd been able to play our 5+ turns, but instead we had to end after 4 so instead of finishing off his army I ran a dreadnaught and 2 separate landspeeders onto his objectives (well 3, lost 1 speeder to a terrain roll of 1) and won with 1 objective for me and none for him. Highlight of the game was rolling 9 dice for normal army saves for 5 terminators versus his slugga boyz, and rolling 5 1's.
